Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Daniel 6 - The Lions’ Den: Under King Darius, a decree is made forbidding prayer to any god but the king. Daniel continues to pray openly and is cast into a den of lions. God shuts the lions' mouths, and Daniel is delivered.
THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
1. Faithfulness in Routine: Daniel's "custom" of prayer (v. 10) was the foundation of his strength during the crisis.
2. The Angelic Protection: God sent His angel to shut the lions' mouths because Daniel was "innocent before him."
3. The Decree of the Medes: God overrides the "unchangeable" laws of man with the superior law of His power.
Practical Lessons
PRACTICAL LESSONS
1. Incorruptible Integrity: Daniel’s enemies could find "none occasion nor fault" in him—an incredible testimony for a public servant.
2. The Priority of Prayer: No human law can supersede the command to communicate with and worship God.
