Chapter Study & Analysis

1 Peter 3 provides instructions for wives and husbands, emphasizing inner beauty and mutual honor. Peter exhorts all believers to be of one mind and to be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in them with meekness and fear.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Hidden Man of the Heart: True beauty is not external, but the "ornament of a meek and quiet spirit" (v. 3-4). We should prioritize internal spiritual growth over outward display.
2. Ready to Answer: We must "be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you" (v. 15). This requires both a prepared mind (study) and a gentle spirit (meekness).
3. Suffering for Well-Doing: It is better to suffer for well-doing than for evil-doing (v. 17). When we face opposition for our faith, we are identified with Christ, who once suffered for sins to bring us to God.

FORMAL PRAYER

Almighty God, grant us to be of one mind, having compassion one of another. Help us to sanctify the Lord God in our hearts and to be alway ready to give a reason for our hope with meekness and fear, for the glory of Thy Name. Amen.
