Chapter Study & Analysis

Proverbs 25 contains proverbs of Solomon copied by the men of Hezekiah, dealing with humility before kings and the nature of conflict.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. Divine Mystery: It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
2. Mercy to Enemies: If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. Humility: Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king.
2. Self-Rule: He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down.
