Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Joel 2 - The Army of the Lord and the Spirit: A description of an unstoppable army. God calls for heart-repentance, promising to be jealous for His land. He promises the restoration of the years the locusts have eaten and the outpouring of His Spirit upon all flesh.
THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
1. Rend your Heart (v. 13): True repentance is internal ("tear the heart"), not just external ("tear the garments").
2. The Restoration of Years (v. 25): God’s power to restore what sin and judgment have consumed.
3. The Promise of the Spirit (v. 28-29): The foundational prophecy for the New Covenant age, fulfilled at Pentecost (Acts 2).
